An active, collaborative approach to learning skills in flow cytometry.
Advances in science education research have the potential to improve the way students learn to perform scientific interpretations and understand science concepts. We developed active, collaborative activities to teach skills in manipulating flow cytometry data using FlowJo software. Undergraduate students were given compensated clinical flow cytometry listmode output (FCS) files and asked to de...
متن کاملActive Learning: An Approach for Reducing Theory-Practice Gap in Clinical Education
Introduction: The gap between theory and practice in clinical fields, including nursing, is one of the main problems that many solutions have been suggested to eliminate it. In this article, we have tried to investigate its solution through active learning. Methods: In this review article, searching articles published during 2000-2012 was done through library references, scientific databases. ...

متن کاملAn Extreme Learning Approach to Active Learning
We propose in this paper a new active learning method that makes no considerations about the data distribution and does not need to adjust any free parameter. The proposed algorithm is based on extreme learning machines (ELM) and a perceptron with analytical calculation of weights. We show that the proposed model have good results using a reduced set of patterns.
متن کاملAn Active Learning Approach to Task Adaptation
An active learning approach is proposed to automatically analyze speech recognition tasks and select particularly useful adaptation data. In this approach, the distribution of task data is first estimated, which is a combination of two distributions based on N-best recognition results and low confidence data. After that, a subset of adaptation data is selected in two stages using a greedy algor...
